You Do Have Time

Mindset

You’re letting time happen to you. I can’t give you more time. It isn’t an infinite resource. The pressure you’re feeling about all of your responsibilities and commitments is what makes it feel like there isn’t enough time. But I can help you see time in a different way.

 

Here’s what’s eating away at your time:

1- Rethinking through the steps every time you start

2- Redeciding on the options

3- Doing things that take you on a path that doesn’t lead to where you want to go.

This is the biggest one. It can be very costly! Anywhere from days to weeks to months to even years of effort that is for not.

This all leads to overwhelm, procrastination, diminishing profit margins, and even a possible shutdown of your business.

 

So let’s break this down very practically…

〰  There are 168 hours in each week. This is the total pool of time everyone has.

〰 You need to sleep and have a few days off to rest. So 48 hours off + another 40 hours for the 8 hours a night of sleeping on the days you do work equals 88 hours. That leaves you 80 hours for everything else.

Sure you could sleep less or work on those 2 days off. It’s your choice. But those alternatives just give you more hours in the “leftover” bucket!

〰 If you are working the typical American hours, that’s 40 committed to your work divided by your business.

I know…some of you work more and some less, but this is a good average.

〰 This means you have 40 hours leftover to spend as you want.

You could…

  • Work more
  • Sleep more
  • Exercise
  • Spend time with family or friends
  • Clean your home
  • Meditate
  • >Go to church
  • Binge your favorite shows
  • Do your hobbies
  • Take care of yourself

So let’s shift your mindset on time…

1- You need to recognize all the things you want to spend your time doing, not just work. Seriously! List them all out and allocate some of your 168 hours to each. This will be the basis of your boundaries.

2- Communicate those boundaries to others to protect them to help hold you accountable.

3- Make intentional choices about how you use your allocated time. When something needs to change because there’s a demand, recognize that you’re choosing to step outside your boundaries. Don’t let time happen to you!

Remember, this is easily fixable. What are you going to do to update the way you deal with time?

Hire a business coach, strategist or project manager to help you plan. Don’t try to do this on your own! By having someone else, outside of your business and your life, look at it all with you, they will see alternative options and places where there could be issues that you can’t see because you’re so close to it.
